Under Anand's leadership, Mahindra Ugine Steel Company grew significantly and became one of India's leading producers of specialty steel. Anand then went on to serve as the president and deputy managing director of the Mahindra Group, where he oversaw the company's expansion into various new sectors such as software and hospitality.


In 1997, Anand was appointed the managing director of the Mahindra Group, and he soon became known for his vision and innovative thinking. Under his leadership, the company expanded its presence in various sectors, including automobiles, aerospace, and hospitality.
