Serving as the 11th President of India (2002–2007) , he was admired for his vision, humility, and dedication to nation-building. Early Life Dr. Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, into a modest family. His father was a boat owner, and his mother was a homemaker. From an early age, Kalam displayed a keen interest in learning and a strong determination to overcome poverty through education.
