Ajit Singh's political career began in the 1980s when he joined the Janata Party. He was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian parliament, in 1989 from the Baghpat constituency. In 1991, he was re-elected to the Lok Sabha from the same constituency.


In 1996, Ajit Singh founded the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), a political party based in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The RLD was formed with the aim of promoting the interests of farmers and rural communities. In the 1998 Lok Sabha elections, Ajit Singh was re-elected from the Baghpat constituency as an RLD candidate.


In 2001, Ajit Singh was appointed as the Union Minister of Industry in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government. He served in this position until 2004. In 2009, he was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Baghpat constituency as an RLD candidate.


Ajit Singh's Personal Life:


Ajit Singh was married to Radhika Singh and had three children. His son Jayant Chaudhary is also a politician and a former Member of Parliament. Ajit Singh was known for his simple and down-to-earth personality and was widely respected for his commitment to public service.


Controversies:


Ajit Singh was involved in several controversies throughout his political career. One of the most notable controversies was his alleged involvement in the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots. The riots were triggered by a dispute between two communities over land ownership and resulted in the deaths of over 60 people.
