Career


Sunil Mittal began his career in 1976 by importing and selling bicycle parts. He then went on to establish Bharti Overseas Trading Company, which focused on importing and exporting a variety of goods. In the 1980s, he saw an opportunity in the telecom industry, which was just beginning to take off in India.


In 1984, Sunil founded Bharti Telecom Limited, which became the first company to offer push-button telephones in India. He then went on to establish Bharti Airtel Limited, which is now one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world.


Under Sunil's leadership, Bharti Airtel has grown to become a global leader in the telecom industry, with operations in more than 18 countries across Asia and Africa. The company has also expanded into other areas such as mobile banking, digital TV, and e-commerce.
