 Amit Shah is an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Amit Shah's political career began in the late 1980s when he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a right-wing Hindu nationalist organization. He quickly rose through the ranks of the organization and was eventually appointed as the head of the Gujarat unit.


In 1987, Shah joined the BJP and worked closely with former Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Shah played a key role in Modi's rise to power in Gujarat and was instrumental in the BJP's victory in the 2002 Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections.


Shah's political career reached new heights in 2014, when the BJP won a decisive victory in the Indian general elections. Following the election, he was appointed as the President of the BJP, a position he held until 2020. During his tenure as the party president, Shah oversaw the BJP's growth and expansion across India, and played a key role in the party's victories in several state elections.


In 2019, Shah was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament, from the Gandhinagar constituency in Gujarat. Later that year, he was appointed as the Union Minister for Home Affairs in the Government of India.

Shah has also been accused of making controversial statements and using divisive language. For example, in 2019, he sparked a controversy by referring to illegal immigrants from Bangladesh as 'termites'.
